Arrange
How do you arrange an EICR?
Arranging the inspection is a sequence: the right service, a clear scope, access on the day, and then the report. The outcome is not promised in advance.
Reviewed 6 October 2026 by Michael (Technical Supervisor) and George Opsenica (Director, Codeex Maintenance Ltd). General guidance, not a reading of your own report and not legal advice.

What this sequence does not promise
The office confirms visit availability. The inspection findings determine the assessment and any further work.
The morning, afternoon and evening windows are times when a visit can be arranged. They are not a promise that the report is issued in that window.
The sequence
1. Choose the service
A dwelling, an HMO and a commercial premises are different enquiries. Start with the service that matches the building. This sequence does not decide which legal duty applies.
2. Describe the scope
The request needs the address, whether it is a flat or a house or something else, what is included, where the boards are, and which circuits must stay on.
3. Book the visit
Use the booking page. The windows below are the configured times a visit can be arranged. They are not a completion promise.
4. Give access
On the day, someone who can open the boards and the areas in the scope needs to be there. Locked cupboards and occupied rooms are part of that access, not an afterthought.
5. Inspection and testing
The inspection tests the fixed installation that can be reached within the agreed extent. It does not open every concealed part, it does not test every appliance, and it does not guarantee a satisfactory outcome.
6. Read the report
What you receive from the inspection is the condition report for the extent that was inspected, including its limitations and the recommended next inspection date. It is not issued before the visit.
7. Read the codes at this level only
At the level of this sequence: C1 records danger present, C2 records a potentially dangerous condition, C3 records an improvement recommendation, and FI records that further investigation is advised under the A4:2026 report format. Earlier report formats and applicable landlord duties need separate consideration. Use the code guide to understand each term, and ask the inspecting electrician about the codes on your own report.
8. Later work, if the report requires it
If the report requires remedial work or further investigation, that work is a separate step after the report and is not included in the inspection.
The configured appointment windows
Morning visits in the booking configuration run from 09:00 to 12:00.
Afternoon visits run from 12:00 to 16:00.
Evening visits run from 16:00 to 19:00.

Satisfactory means the inspector recorded a satisfactory outcome for the extent inspected. Unsatisfactory means they did not. Neither word is a prediction made on this page.
Book from the testing service
The service is EICR testing in London. Booking is book online. Codes are the code guide. Preparing the property for the visit is a different article from this sequence.
