Remedial work for failed EICR certificates

We review the report and provide one quote for the agreed repair work, with VAT included. You can choose the work needed to address the unsatisfactory findings, or a wider scope that includes recommended improvements. Nothing starts until you agree.

• Small repairs, such as a damaged socket, a cracked accessory or a missing cover: from £150 + VAT (£180 inc VAT).
• Several items on one report: quoted as one visit, so you are not paying for repeat call-outs.
• Consumer unit (fuse board) replacement: from £975 + VAT (£1,170 inc VAT).
• Shops, offices, blocks and HMOs: quoted per site.

The inspection fee covers the testing and your report. Repairs are a separate, optional quote. Nothing is added to your bill without your say-so, and you are free to use any qualified electrician you like.

Most failed EICRs need one to three small fixes, not a rewire. Some older installations need a new consumer unit, and we will tell you plainly when that is the case and why.

• C1, danger present: needs making safe straight away. The electrician will usually make it safe on the day and record what was done.
• C2, potentially dangerous: must be fixed for the report to be satisfactory. Landlords have 28 days, or less if the report says so.
• FI, further investigation: something needs a closer look. Under the A4:2026 report format an FI does not by itself make the report unsatisfactory, but it should be investigated promptly.
• C3, improvement recommended: not required for a satisfactory result. We include these improvements in the repair scope only if you ask.

• The full EICR, every page, not just the summary. Clear photos of each page are fine.
• The property postcode and who will let the electrician in.
• Any deadline from your letting agent, lender or council.
• A photo of the fuse board if you have one. It helps us price consumer unit work accurately.

Most repairs mean the power is off for part of the visit. We agree the time with you or your tenant, keep the disruption short and leave everything working and tested before we go.

Give us one reliable contact for access and tell us about keys, entry systems, parking or pets. We remind them the day before.

When the work is done you receive the right completion certificate for the job: a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate for smaller repairs, or an Electrical Installation Certificate for bigger work such as a new consumer unit.

Landlords in England must send written confirmation that the work is complete, with a copy of the report, to the tenant and the local council within 28 days of finishing it. Keep that certificate with the original report. A new full EICR is not normally needed.

You are free to use another contractor. A failed report does not tie you to the electrician who inspected. Compare our repair quote if you want to, and only go ahead if it suits you.

Is remedial work included in the inspection price? No. The inspection fee covers the report. Repairs are quoted separately and are always optional.

Do I need a new EICR after the repairs? Not a full new inspection. The electrician re-tests the repaired items on the same visit and issues the completion certificate with an updated satisfactory report, which is what your tenant or council asks to see. Keep both with your original report.

How quickly can you do the work? We book repairs on weekdays, with evenings and weekends on request, and C1 dangers are treated as urgent.

Can you quote from another company's report? Yes. Send it over and we quote the agreed repair work in the same way.

Will the repairs make my next EICR pass? Fixing the listed items closes out this report. It does not guarantee a satisfactory outcome on a future inspection, because that checks the whole installation as it is then.
