How it works

Pick a weekday morning or afternoon window (evenings and weekends on request) and tell us who will let the electrician in.
Step 3: A full inspection and test
The electrician inspects and tests the installation within the agreed scope and records any limitations in the report. Visit length depends on the property, the number of circuits and access; we give you an estimate when we confirm the appointment. Power is switched off for parts of the testing.
Step 4: Report in your inbox
Your EICR is usually ready within 24 hours of completing the inspection. We email the report once the invoice is paid, unless different written terms apply.

How the checker works
You select a role, then answer conditional questions about jurisdiction where relevant, property use, existing EICR evidence, outcomes, observation codes, material changes and upcoming triggers. Irrelevant fields stay hidden.
The result summarises a likely position, missing information, urgency and a recommended service route. Print the summary if you need a paper copy. There is no email-result feature on this page because no privacy-safe result-email mechanism is configured for it.
Accuracy and jurisdiction limits
England private-rented orientation draws on the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 and related GOV.UK guidance (Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020; GOV.UK — Electrical safety standards in the private rented sector).
Under BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, C1 or C2 makes an EICR unsatisfactory. C3 and FI do not. For rented property in England, a duty to complete further investigative work is a separate statutory question and still follows GOV.UK guidance checked on 1 October 2026. A draft 2026 instrument is not current law; review that wording again around 30 November 2026. An EICR is a report, not a certificate valid for exactly five years.
Compliance checker FAQs
Does a “likely needed” result mean I am breaking the law? No. The checker provides general orientation. Legal duties depend on tenure, jurisdiction, licensing and the facts. Check official guidance and competent advice for your case.
Can the checker say I am fully compliant? No. It never issues a certificate and never uses a misleading “fully compliant” outcome. Insufficient evidence returns an unable-to-determine result.
Does it apply the same rules across the whole UK? No. England private-rented duties are treated carefully using the 2020 Regulations context. Other UK nations are flagged for manual review rather than oversimplified.
Where are the decision rules kept? In a central, testable rules module maintained with the site — not buried only inside the page layout — so outcomes stay consistent and reviewable.
